Dear TCUSD FAMILY,
Happy Friday, Warriors. As I wrap up another week, I find myself thinking about just how excited I am for next week. For many of you, it's the beginning of another school year. For me, it's something I'll never forget.
Next week will be my first opportunity to officially welcome everyone back as Superintendent of the Tuba City Unified School District, and I honestly couldn't be more grateful. Over the past several weeks, I've had the privilege of meeting many of you, listening to your stories, walking our campuses, and learning more about this amazing community. Every conversation has only strengthened my belief that I came to the right place. Thank you for the warm welcome you've already shown my family and me. We truly feel at home here.
As we begin this new year together, I want you to know something that is very important to me. Titles don't build great school districts. People do. Teachers. Bus drivers. Custodians. Paraprofessionals. Secretaries. Maintenance staff. Technology staff. Food service. Coaches. Principals. Counselors. Support staff.
Every single person matters. Every single person has the opportunity to change the trajectory of a student's life. Never underestimate the impact you have. This year, you'll hear me say two things often:
Kids Come First. Stronger Together.
Those aren't just slogans to me. They're commitments.
Kids Come First means every decision we make should begin with one simple question:
"Is this what's best for our students?"
If the answer is yes, we're on the right path.
Stronger Together means we will celebrate together, solve problems together, support one another, and continue growing together. We won't always have all the answers, and we won't always agree, but we will move forward as one team because our students deserve nothing less. One of my favorite quotes from Coach Nick Saban is:
"Average is the top of the bottom and the bottom of the top."
I've always believed excellence isn't about being perfect. It's about choosing every day to get a little better than we were yesterday. That's the culture I hope we continue to build together here in Tuba City.
