National Navajo Code Talkers Day August 14th
TCUSD FAMILY,
On Monday, we began the week by talking about “juggling the job”, the many responsibilities, challenges, and unexpected moments we carry each day. Thriving does not mean keeping everything perfectly balanced. It means knowing what matters most, supporting one another when something begins to fall, and remembering that even on our busiest days, our work has a purpose: OUR STUDENTS.
This week, I saw employees adjust, solve problems, encourage one another, and continue moving forward. Those everyday actions may not always receive recognition, but they make a tremendous difference across our district. As we close the instructional week, I encourage you to pause and recognize what you accomplished, not only what remains on your list. Give yourself and those around you some grace. We are still building, learning, and growing together.
Tomorrow, August 14, our district recognizes National Navajo Code Talkers Day. This day honors the Navajo Marines who developed, expanded, and used a secure military code based on Diné Bizaad during World War II. The code allowed critical military messages to be transmitted quickly and securely throughout the Pacific and was never broken by the enemy. We honor the Navajo Code Talkers’ courage, sacrifice, ingenuity, and service. We also recognize the enduring strength of Diné Bizaad and the importance of preserving the language, culture, and legacy they carried forward.
As we move into tomorrow, may each of us take time to reflect upon and honor the Navajo Code Talkers and remember what can be accomplished through courage, purpose, and unity. We do not have to carry everything alone. We are STRONGER TOGETHER.
