Friday Reflection: Ready to Welcome Our Warriors
Good Morning, Warrior FAMILY
As we close another remarkable week, I keep returning to one word: gratitude. Last week, I shared that we were building the foundation for something special. This week, that foundation came to life. At Convocation, we gathered as One District and One Warrior Family. Seeing our schools and departments together in one room was a powerful reminder that although we serve in different roles and locations, we are united by one shared purpose: doing what is best for our students. Dr. Rob Thornell challenged us to consider how we can continue growing and improving, and I left inspired by the energy, pride, and commitment throughout the Warrior Pavilion. That same spirit continued during Open House. I had the opportunity to visit Tuba City Elementary School and Tuba City High School, where I saw staff welcoming students and families with genuine excitement. Classrooms were ready, hallways were filled with energy, and relationships were already being built.
This week was a true reflection of what Stronger Together looks like. It was teachers preparing classrooms, principals supporting their teams, custodians ensuring our buildings were ready, maintenance improving our campuses, transportation preparing buses and routes, food service planning for students, technology connecting our systems, security preparing to keep everyone safe, and every department working together behind the scenes. There are no small jobs at TCUSD. Every role matters. Every person matters. Every interaction matters.
On Monday, our students return, and that is when our most important work begins. Some will arrive excited and confident. Others may feel nervous, uncertain, or overwhelmed. Every student deserves to be welcomed by an adult who knows their name, believes in their potential, and is genuinely glad they came to school.

We may not control every challenge that comes our way, but we can control how we respond, how we support one another, and how we show up for our students each day. Excellence is not created through one major moment. It is built through consistent, intentional actions, one student, one classroom, one bus ride, one meal, and one interaction at a time. To every member of the TCUSD family: thank you. Thank you for your hard work, flexibility, professionalism, and heart. I know preparing for a new school year requires long hours and countless details that others may never see. Please know that your work is noticed, valued, and deeply appreciated.
This weekend, take time to rest, recharge, and reflect on the incredible opportunity before us. On Monday morning, let us welcome our Warriors with energy, patience, high expectations, and the belief that every student can succeed. Our campuses are ready. Our classrooms are ready. Our teams are ready. Now, it is time to welcome our Warriors home.
