Friday Reflection: They Are Why We Are Here

Warrior FAMILY,
On my run this morning, I found myself thinking about these first few days of school and what this year can become. My thoughts kept coming back to one thing , OUR KIDS. That is why we are here. Every one of our kiddos walked through our doors this week with a different story. Some were excited. Some were nervous. Some were ready to learn, and some may still be trying to figure out where they fit. And every single one of them deserves to know that they belong here.
“Every child deserves a champion—an adult who will never give up on them.” — Rita Pierson
I love that quote because it gets right to the heart of our work.
We may not always know what a student is carrying when they walk through our doors. But we can make sure they have adults who believe in them, challenge them, encourage them, and remind them that their future is bigger than whatever obstacle may be in front of them today. That's the difference we get to make. Our first week wasn't about being perfect. It was about the beginning. We will learn together, adjust together, celebrate together, and probably make a few mistakes together. But through all of it, I hope we keep asking ourselves one simple question:
Is this what's best for our kids?
If we can keep our kiddos at the center of our conversations and decisions, I truly believe we're going to have a special year. As I finished my run this morning, I was simply grateful. Grateful for the opportunity to serve this community, grateful for each of you, and especially grateful that families have entrusted us with their children. That is something I will never take lightly.
As we head into this final day of our first week, let's finish the way we started, together, with our kiddos at the center of everything we do. When our students walk through our doors this morning, let's make sure they know:
We're glad you're here.
You matter.
We believe in you.
You matter.
We believe in you.
Have a FANTASTIC Friday, Warrior FAMILY. Let's finish Week One STRONG!
