SUP with the Supt

Dear Tuba City Unified School District Family,
As we prepare for an exciting new school year, one of my highest priorities is building strong relationships across our district. I firmly believe the best ideas come from the people who serve our students every day, and I want to create regular opportunities to listen, learn, and grow together.
 
Beginning the week of August 10, I am excited to launch a new initiative called SUP with the Supt. Throughout the school year, I'll visit a different campus or department each week and invite a small group of employees to join me for an informal conversation. These sessions are designed to be relaxed, open, and honest. While everyone is welcome to share whatever is on their mind, each week will have a guiding theme to help focus on our discussion.
Our conversation themes will include:
 
Week 1 – Getting to Know You
  • Tell me your story.
  • What do you love about Tuba City Unified?
  • What should I know as your Superintendent?
 
Week 2 – Celebrating Success
  • What's working well?
  • Who deserves recognition?
  • What should we continue doing?
 
Week 3 – Challenges & Roadblocks
  • What gets in the way of your work?
  • What is one obstacle we can help remove?
  • How can the district better support you?
 
Week 4 – Student Success
  • What do our students need most?
  • What does a Tuba City Warrior graduate look like?
  • How do we ensure every student belongs and succeeds?
 
Week 5 – Innovation
  • What new ideas should we consider?
  • If you could change one thing, what would it be?
  • What have you seen work well elsewhere?
 
Week 6 – Staff Wellness
  • How are you doing?
  • What would improve morale?
  • How can we better support our employees?
 
Week 7 – Safe & Supportive Schools
  • School safety
  • Student behavior
  • Emergency preparedness
  • Creating welcoming learning environments
 
Week 8 – Family & Community Partnerships
  • How can we strengthen relationships with families?
  • What community partnerships should we build?
  • How do we increase trust and communication?
 
Week 9 – Professional Growth
  • What professional learning would benefit you?
  • How can we develop future leaders?
  • What support do you need to continue growing?
 
Week 10 – Looking Ahead
  • What should our priorities be moving forward?
  • What would make this year a success?
  • What should we focus on next?
 
 
At the end of every session, I'll ask three simple questions:
 
  • What should we keep doing?
  • What should we start doing?
  • What should we stop doing?
 
 
Listening is only the first step. Following through is what truly matters. Each month, I'll share a "You Spoke, We Listened" update with our Tuba City Unified School District Family, highlighting what we've heard, what we're working on, and the progress we've made together. My hope is that these conversations lead to meaningful action and continuous improvement across our district.
